The early years of a child’s life are not a waiting room for “real school.” They are arguably the most important years of learning a human being will ever experience. Between the ages of four and six, children’s brains are developing at a pace that will never be matched again — forming the neural connections, habits of mind, social skills, and emotional foundations that will shape how they learn, relate, and grow for the rest of their lives.

At Akoto Dalizu Premier Academy, we understand the weight and wonder of this season. Our ECDE programme — covering PP1 and PP2 — is thoughtfully designed to honour the way young children actually learn: through play, exploration, story, song, movement, and meaningful interaction with caring adults and peers.

A Day in the Life of an ADPA Pre-Primary Learner.
No two days look exactly the same — and that is by design. Variety, surprise, and discovery are powerful learning tools. But every day at our ECDE level is anchored in warmth, structure, and intentional play.
Here is a glimpse of what your child's day looks like:

Morning Welcome

Children arrive to a warm, orderly, and cheerful classroom. Our teachers greet every child by name — setting the tone for a day where every learner feels seen and valued.

Circle Time & Morning Activities

Structured group time builds early literacy and numeracy skills through songs, rhymes, storytelling, and guided conversation. Language development — in both English and Kiswahili — is central to this session.

Learning Through Play

Our classrooms are equipped with age-appropriate learning materials that turn exploration into education. Children engage in creative art, building blocks, dramatic play, and hands-on discovery activities that build cognitive, fine motor, and social skills simultaneously.

Breaktime Tea

A nutritious mid-morning snack keeps energy levels up and gives children an important opportunity to develop table manners, social interaction, and independence.

Guided Learning Sessions

Focused, teacher-led activities introduce early concepts in literacy, numeracy, environmental awareness, and life skills — all delivered in age-appropriate, engaging ways that children enjoy.

Outdoor Play

Our spacious, well-maintained lawn field gives children the freedom to run, climb, laugh, and play. Physical activity is not a break from learning — it is part of it.

Lunchtime

A balanced, freshly prepared lunch is served in our dining hall, giving children the nutrition they need to stay focused and energised throughout the afternoon.

Afternoon Activities

Music, movement, creative expression, and quiet time round off the day, helping children consolidate what they have learned while winding down in a calm, positive environment.

Built on Kenya's CBC — Designed for Your Child

Our ECDE programme is fully aligned with Kenya’s Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) as prescribed for Pre-Primary Education. The CBC recognises that young children develop holistically — and our delivery reflects this.

Learning at PP1 and PP2 is organised around the following key learning areas:

🗣️ Language Activities Building foundational literacy through listening, speaking, pre-reading, and pre-writing activities in English and Kiswahili. Children are introduced to phonics, letter recognition, and early vocabulary in a fun, pressure-free environment.

🔢 Mathematical Activities Numbers, patterns, shapes, sorting, and measurement — introduced through hands-on activities that make abstract concepts visible and tangible. We build a love of numbers early.

🌍 Environmental Activities Children learn to observe, question, and appreciate the world around them — the natural environment, community life, hygiene, and personal safety — in ways that connect to their everyday experiences.

🎨 Creative Activities Art, craft, music, and movement give children expressive outlets while developing fine motor skills, imagination, and emotional intelligence.

🏃 Psychomotor & Creative Activities Gross motor development through physical games, coordination activities, and outdoor play builds healthy bodies and supports cognitive development.

🤝 Religious Education & Values Age-appropriate moral and spiritual foundations are laid here — kindness, respect, honesty, gratitude, and care for others. These values are woven into the fabric of daily school life at ADPA.

Transition to Primary

We Prepare Them Well for Grade 1
One of our proudest outcomes at the ECDE level is the confidence and competence with which our PP2 completers transition into Grade 1. By the time a child finishes PP2 at ADPA, they are:
• Reading and writing at foundational level
• Confident communicators in English and Kiswahili
• Comfortable with basic numeracy concepts
• Socially and emotionally ready to learn independently
• Grounded in strong values and positive habits
The transition from Pre-Primary to Primary School at ADPA is smooth and well-supported — because they are moving within the same school community, with familiar faces, consistent values, and a curriculum that flows seamlessly from one stage to the next.
